So, here’s the story of how this came about.

I attended my first (!) Supernatural con in Dallas this weekend. I just started watching about a year and a half ago and fell deep into the welcoming fandom.The Dallas con was Sept 16 - 18th this year and three days before the con, they announced the Castiel photo ops for Sunday. I thought it would be fun to have a picture with Cas on his ‘birthday’.

I really hadn’t thought out the photo much, I just bought those birthday party hats (like the blue one above). However, I got to talk to Misha on Saturday and asked if he had any plans for Cas’s birthday the next day. He acted surprised that Cas’s birthday was Sept. 18th, so the kind fans around helped fill him in. I mentioned then that I had his photo op and was going to have the hats and he said “You should get an angel food cake”. Well, if Misha wants an angel food cake, I’ll hunt down an angel food cake! So I went to Wal-Mart, found the cake and candles (I just grabbed the blue and green ones randomly, but maybe there was some subliminal thought there too :) ).

So Sunday, at the op, I had the hats (I also wore one in my op) and the candles on the cake (just randomly put some on, so sorry for the 9 and they were unlit as the staff had asked that I not light them). Misha wasn’t happy that they weren’t lit so Chris Schmelke found a lighter and lit the candles. In my op, you also see us both blowing out the candles. When it was done, I started to take the cake from him and he said, just a minute. He then stepped into the pose that Chris caught so beautifully. It was a great day!

So there’s the story of the photo. I’m glad I could be a very small part of this awesome op!
